way behind

the computer is laughing at me.

i've been insanely busy. so much so that when i noticed it had been 3 weeks since i'd posted, i threw up a brief summary blog before running out the door... only i posted it to the wrong blog. then i just tried to move it and copy/paste evidently takes sundays off.

so, i'm posting... while nursing... before i milk... while randy runs out to buy new hair clippers as the old ones pooped out in the middle of his haircut. i managed to make him moderately presentable, but he still looks a bit strange... like gloria cut his hair.

and i need to feed the dog. yes, the dog, angel. whom we brought back from the other side of the state w/ her brother a 3 pregnant sheep. the sheep, bella and button, have temporary residence w/ their travel partner, valentine, who already gave birth to a ram, valentino.

we celebrated aaron's 2nd b'day with a plate of cookies and the 2 dogs (the 2nd dog has a new home now) and me trying to keep my head straight. that was just the beginning.

we slaughtered our meat chickens, filled our newly acquired chest freezer, swapped some chickens for locally raised organic grass-fed beef and have food to last seemingly forever. which was good given that i'd been too busy to get to the store.

thursday evening our second goat gave birth to yet another buckling. i thought on a whim that maybe we could trade 2 bucks for a doe. ended up going through with that trade the very next night for a full-sized lamancha goat who had kidded jsut a few days before. now milking 3 times a day to keep up the demand but we're getting about a gallon a day between the 3 goats. new goat's name is dulcinea (think "the man of lamancha").

and this coming week should, maybe, just possibly, be normal.

no... ABnormal. i haven't seen what used to be normal in quite some time. chaos seems to be the new normal. :->
